  • Dresscode: Sleeveless clothing and shorts over the knee for men are prohibited. For ladies skirts and shawls are available at the entrance in case they don’t have such clothing to cover themselves.
  • Departure time from Thessaloniki: 08:18 - Arrival time in Kalabaka: 11.30. You will switch trains at Paleofarsalos station.
  • Departure time from Kalabaka: 17.15 - Arrival time in Thessaloniki: 20.31. You will switch trains at Paleofarsalos station.
  • Possibility to change returning city to Athens instead of Thessaloniki, by leaving a comment in your reservation

Day 1,Thessaloniki to Meteora and Sunset Tour

Catch the train to Kalambaka at 08:18 am from Thessaloniki Railway Station. Upon your arrival in Kalambaka, around 11:30 am, our English speaking driver will be waiting for you at the train station, holding a signboard with your name on it to transfer you to your hotel. In the evening you will join the Meteora Sunset Tour to admire breathtaking views of Meteora and to discover all the hidden gems of this place.

Day 2,Morning tour and back to Thessaloniki

Next morning, we give you the opportunity to choose the activity you prefer, the Meteora Hiking Tour or the Half-day Morning Tour. Our guide will meet you in the lobby to explore together Meteora and to discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. Enjoy a journey back in time and learn the stories of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of the monastic community of Meteora. At around 16:45 pm our driver will pick you up to transfer you to the train station. At 17:15 pm the train departs and you will switch trains at Paleofarsalos, arriving at back to Thessaloniki at 20:31 pm.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations and amendments received within 30 days of departure will incur a penalty which will be the price of train tickets.
  • Cancellations and amendments received within 5 days of departure will incur a penalty of 50% per person.
  • Cancellations and amendments received within 24 hours of departure will incur a penalty of 100% per person.
  • Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.

FAQ

Will I meet anyone at the train station in Athens or Thessaloniki?

No. On our train tours, you will board the train from Athens or Thessaloniki on your own, using the tickets we will send you via email. Our guide will meet you at Kalabaka train station after your train arrives at Meteora. He will be holding a signboard with your name written on it in the parking lot of Kalabaka train station.

Which hotel will I stay at?

We use only the best 3 and 4-star hotels in the area for your accommodation. All hotel we cooperate with have beautiful rooms and offer exceptional service.

Is breakfast included?

Yes, all hotel overnights include breakfast.

When and how will I receive my train tickets?

We will send you the train tickets via email approximately one month before your trip date.

Why should I print the train tickets?

There is an off-chance that a train inspector might give you a hard time if you present them with an electronic version of your tickets. This is why we recommend you to print them.

What time should I be at the station?

Please be at the station at least 30 minutes before the departure in order to have plenty of time to find your coach and seats. The stewards there will assist you.

Is there food provided on the train?

Yes, there is a cafeteria-coach inside every train, where you can buy snacks and refreshments.

Is it worth it booking a first class seat?

Yes, first class seats are more comfortable and quieter. They are almost always arranged in a 6-seat-rooms, offering a higher amount of privacy and the first class coach is located next to the cafeteria, offering fast access there.
