Tour Details

The day trip by train starts at 07:20 in the morning from Larissis central train station in Athens, where you will board the train on your own for the trip to Meteora. Enjoy a scenic rail trip through the beautiful Greek countryside. Around 11:30 am the train arrives in Kalabaka train station where our guide will be waiting for you holding a signboard with your name. You will then board a Limo VIP minibus to take you on a tour around the site of Meteora to enjoy breathtaking views and to visit the ancient monasteries. The tour will give you the chance to learn the history behind; to make brief stops on the best breathtaking viewpoints of Meteora, the hermit caves of Badovas and to visit inside 3 monasteries of Meteora.

At around 16:45 in the afternoon, the bus will transfer you back to Kalambaka train station for your trip back to Athens. The train departs at 17:15 pm so, you will have around half an hour’s free time to walk in the town center or to enjoy a meal. You will arrive in Athens at around 21:25.

The train tickets are all issued on 2nd class seats as standard. If you wish to upgrade them to 1st class seats you may choose to add to your basket the 1st class seats upgrade add-on that will pop-up on your screen before you complete the booking.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Morning,Board the train

You will board the train at 7:20am. Please be at the station at least 30 minutes before the departure in order to have plenty of time to find your coach and seats. The stewards there will assist you.

Day 1 Afternoon,Return to Athens

At around 16:45 in the afternoon, the bus will transfer you back to Kalambaka train station for your trip back to Athens. The train departs at 17:15 pm so, you will have more than an hour free time to walk in the town's center or to enjoy a meal. You will arrive in Athens at around 21:25.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations and amendments received within 30 days of departure will incur a penalty which will be the price of train tickets.
  • Cancellations and amendments received within 5 days of departure will incur a penalty of 50% per person.
  • Cancellations and amendments received within 24 hours of departure will incur a penalty of 100% per person.
  • Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.

FAQ

Will I meet anyone at the train station in Athens or Thessaloniki?

No. On our train tours, you will board the train from Athens or Thessaloniki on your own, using the tickets we will send you via email. Our guide will meet you at Kalabaka train station after your train arrives at Meteora. He will be holding a signboard with your name written on it, in the parking lot of Kalabaka train station.

When and how will I receive my train tickets?

We will send you the train tickets via email approximately one month before your trip date.

Why should I print the train tickets?

There is an off-chance that a train inspector might give you a hard time if you present them with an electronic version of your tickets. This is why we recommend you to print them.

What time should I be at the station?

Please be at the station at least 30 minutes before the departure in order to have plenty of time to find your coach and seats. The stewards there will assist you.

Is there food provided on the train?

Yes, there is a cafeteria-coach inside every train, where you can buy snacks and refreshments.

Is it worth it booking a first class seat?

Yes, first class seats are more comfortable and quieter. They are almost always arranged in a 6-seat-rooms, offering a higher amount of privacy and the first class coach is located next to the cafeteria, offering fast access there.
