Tour Itinerary

Day 1,Athens to Meteora and Sunset Tour

Catch the morning train to Kalambaka at 08:20 am from Athens 'Larissa' Railway Station. Upon your arrival in Kalambaka, at around 13:30 pm, our English speaking driver will be waiting for you at the train station holding a signboard with your name on it to transfer you to your hotel. Late afternoon the VIP mini bus will pick you up from the hotel to join our 'Meteora Sunset Tour'. Admire breathtaking views of Meteora and discover the hidden gems of this place in one of the best tours of Mainland Greece.

Day 2,Morning tour and free afternoon

For the next morning you may choose the activity you wish to do: the 'Half-Day morning Tour of Meteora' to see the main attractions, the monasteries of Meteora with a VIP minibus or the 'Hiking Tour of Meteora'. Experience amazing sceneries and visit monuments of the Byzantine period, the monasteries of Meteora. After this morning tour, at around 13:00 pm, the bus will drop you back to your hotel. The evening is free for you to explore the area on your own.

Day 3,Meteora to Delphi and Athens

Early in the morning, a taxi will pick up from the hotel to take you to the train station. At 05:32 am the train departs and arrives at Livadia station at around 09:00. There, an English speaking taxi driver holding a signboard with your name will wait to transfer you to Delphi. Delphi is roughly an hour drive away from Livadia, so you will arrive at the archeological site at around 10:00 am where you can spend many hours exploring the ancient oracle, the museum, and the small town. At 16:00 you’ll take the bus back to Athens. It takes around 2 hours to reach the capital of Greece from Delphi.

  • Any participants under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian present to sign on their behalf
  • Wear closed toed shoes
  • There are many beautiful sights. You are encouraged to bring a camera along
  • Weather will not affect the operation of the tours. However if canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund
  • The monasteries have a strict dress code men must wear trousers and long sleeves, women must wear a long skirt. If you do turn up in shorts trousers and shirts will be provided.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations received within 30 days of departure will incur a penalty which will be the price of train tickets.
  • Cancellations received within 5 days of departure will incur a penalty of 50% per person.
  • Cancellations received within 24 hours of departure will incur a penalty of 100% per person.
  • Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.

Will I meet anyone at the train station in Athens or Thessaloniki?

No. On our train tours, you will board the train from Athens or Thessaloniki on your own, using the tickets we will send you via email. Our guide will meet you at Kalabaka train station after your train arrives at Meteora. He will be holding a signboard with your name written on it in the parking lot of Kalabaka train station.

Which hotel will I stay at?

We use only the best 3 and 4-star hotels in the area for your accommodation. All hotel we cooperate with have beautiful rooms and offer exceptional service.

Is breakfast included?

Yes, all hotel overnights include breakfast.

Will there be a guide in Delphi?

No, you will have free time to explore the site and museum of Delphi on your own. If you absolutely want a guide, contact us and we will arrange one for you.

When and how will I receive my train tickets?

We will send you the train tickets via email approximately one month before your trip date.

Why should I print the train tickets?

There is an off-chance that a train inspector might give you a hard time if you present them with an electronic version of your tickets. This is why we recommend you to print them.

What time should I be at the station?

Please be at the station at least 30 minutes before the departure in order to have plenty of time to find your coach and seats. The stewards there will assist you.

Is there food provided on the train?

Yes, there is a cafeteria-coach inside every train, where you can buy snacks and refreshments.

Is it worth it booking a first class seat?

Yes, first class seats are more comfortable and quieter. They are almost always arranged in a 6-seat-rooms, offering a higher amount of privacy and the first class coach is located next to the cafeteria, offering fast access there.

We had a great tour guide and driver. The guide gave lots of good info about the region and the monasteries. Honestly you could do a little research and do the trip on your own as there is parking at each of the open monasteries.
